  2. Hong Kong Background • Hong Kong(Chinese: 香港) is one of two special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the other being Macau. Situated on China's south coast and enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea,it is renowned for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbour. With a land mass of 1,104 km2 (426 sq mi) and a population of seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Hong Kong's population is 95 percent ethnic Chinese and 5 percent from other groups. Hong Kong's Han Chinese majority originate mainly from the cities of Guangzhou and Taishan in the neighbouring Guangdong province.

  5. 天坛大佛(Tiāntándàfú)Big Buddha • Giant Buddhasitsserenely atop Ngong Ping plateau amid the spectacular mountain scenery of Lantau Island. The eyes, lips, incline of the head and even the right handcombineto lend great depth of character and dignity to this extraordinary statue. Cast in China and took 12 years to complete. It was unveiled in December 1993 amid deeply religious ceremonies. 

  6. How to get to Big Buddha 1.Catch ferry from Central Pier 6 (MTR Hong Kong Station Exit E1. Walk through ifc mall) to MuiWo, then take bus 2. 2.MTR Tung Chung Station Exit B, then take bus 23 from Tung Chung Town Centre. 3.MTR Tung Chung Station Exit B, then take Ngong Ping Cable Car.

  10. 香港文化中心 The Hong Kong Cultural Center was completed in 1989. It is in the 尖沙咀(Jiānshāzuǐ) area of Hong Kong It is home to a wide variety of cultural activities. There is a 2,019 seat Concert Hall, a 1,734 seat Grand Theater, a 400 seat studio theater, along with an exhibition gallery and rehearsal rooms.

  11. 香港太空館 The Hong Kong Space Museum was built in 1980 and is along the 尖沙咀(Jiānshāzuǐ)  in Hong Kong. The main portion of the museum is a planetarium and below it are the Stanley Ho Space Theatre, the Hall of Space Science. The west wing houses the Hall of Astronomy, the Lecture Hall, a gift shop and offices.
