MIAMI Miami (pronounced / 'mja mi / in Castilian) is an American city located insoutheastern Florida on the Miami River, between the Everglades and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the county seat of Miami-Dade U.S.. It was founded on July 28, 1896 and2009 census has a population of 433,136, the metropolitan area covers more than 5.4 million people, making it the seventh largest in the US1 The United Nations has estimated that in 2008, Miami became the fourth largest urbanized area in the country, behind Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
