  2. Acknowledge - Verb • Recognize; admit • Acknowledging our shortcomings is the first step to changing ourselves for the better.

  3. Debilitate - Verb • Weaken; enfeeble • Diseases debilitate many people in Africa who don’t have adequate nutrition and lack of access to modern medicine.

  4. Exuberance - Noun • Joyful enthusiasm; overflowing abundance • Pat could hardly contain her exuberance after she saw her score on the SAT; it meant she would be accepted at the college she always wanted to attend.

  5. Inadvertent - ADJ • Unintentional; as a result of oversight; careless • Sam assured Bob that although his remark could be seen as insulting, it had been inadvertent.

  6. Opulence - Noun • Extreme wealth; luxuriousness;abundance • Even though he’s rich, the billionaire lives simply with none of the opulence usually associated with great wealth.

  7. Truncate – Verb • Shorten; cut the top off • My pleasant conversation with an old friend was truncated by an important telephone call.
