In Vivo MRI Post mortem MRI NAGM GM NAWM Suppression signal grey matter NAWM WM Lesions T2W T2W WM Lesions GM Lesions Supplementary Figure 1 Panels show the outlined or calculated region's of interest used for analyses of the MRI data. The slices shown are the predefined slices, i.e. the first caudal to rostral slice showing a complete corpus callosum connection. The post mortem images are obtained with a more than ten fold higher resolution, consequently lesions are better visible. Furthermore note that the GM lesions are clearly visible on the image in which signal arising from the grey matter is suppressed. For post mortem MRI a combined T2W and the image with suppression of the signal of the grey matter is used for ROI determinations. Abbreviations: GM=grey matter, NAGM=normal appearing grey matter, NAWM=normal appearing white matter, T2W=T2 weighted image, WM=white matter.
