  4. Branded Editions AAM Definition: • Newspaper edition with name other than that which AAM membership is held • But maintains consistent identity of AAM member (“an edition of….”). • Different language • Community newspaper • Free products • Shoppers • Commuter/demographic focus

  7. Branded Editions • AAM Requirements • Published at least weekly • Represents itself to community as a newspaper (not a magazine, newsletter, etc.) • Labeled as “an edition of…..” • Contains editorial content OR • Households requests delivery and vehicle for delivery of FSIs

  8. Editorial Content • No strict AAM definition • Articles, reviews, recipes, etc. are editorial content • When in doubt, contact AAM PR Manager for review

Verified Circulation - Types • Verified – Home Delivery – Requested • No payment requirement • Individual requested delivery • Term of 12 weeks or more • Initial opt-in • Aging of opt-in request reported for Par. 3 dates in explanatory of audit, then reported in subsequent publisher’s statements until next audit

Verified Circulation - Types • Verified – Home Delivery – Requested, cont. • Each issue carries clear and conspicuous opt-out notice, such as: • Printed on front page • Page 2 not sufficient • Post-it note • Polybag • Other – customer will see without opening product • Annual attempt to contact via phone, e-mail or mail for opt-out • If no editorial content, then must be delivery vehicle for FSIs

Verified Circulation - Types • Verified – Home Delivery – Targeted • No payment requirement • Individual recipients • Targeted by publication, ordered and/or paid for by third party or request less than 12 weeks • If service more than 1 day, recipient is notified of term and frequency, and how to opt-out • In writing, via post card, post it, letter topper. • E-mail notification not permitted • Must contain editorial content • Post in the Pre-Print Projection center 120 days in advance
