  2. Main Characters • Don Pedro- Prince of Arragon, defeats his brother, Don John’s rebellion. • Don John- Younger brother of Don Pedro, he tries to take over Arragon but fails. Later creates a conflict. • Claudio-Officer of Don Pedro, falls in love with Hero. • Benedict-Officer of Don Pedro, he teases Claudio to make him determined to marry Hero. • Hero- Leonata’s daughter, marries Claudio. • Beatrice- Leonata’s niece, marries Benedict. • Borachio- Don John’s aide, later helps Don John’s evil plan. • Leonata- Governor of Messina, father of Hero.

Brief Summary • - the conflict is caused by two brothers, Don Pedro and Don John. • - the younger brother tries to take over Arragon, where Don Pedro is the prince. • - one of Don Pedro's officer, Claudio falls in love with the daughter of Leonata, Hero. • - Leonata is a Governor of Messina. • - While Claudio is in love with Hero, officer Benedict trades barbs and witty rejoinders with Beatrice, Leonata's niece. • - When Claudio asked for Benedict's opinions, he teased him to make him determined to marry Hero. • - Leonata, Claudio, and Hero tries to make Benedict fall in love with Beatrice. • - Don Pedro arranges a wedding of Hero and Claudio. • - Though, Don John, even though he made peace with his brother, he feels jealous of Claudio's reputation so he plans to harm Claudio. • - During a mask party, Don John talks about false thing, that Don Pedro wanted Hero himself. • - With his aide Borachio, Don Pedro made Hero look like not the lady that Claudio and Don Pedro thought. • - Claudio misunderstands, and refuses to marry Hero. • - Leonata announces that Hero died due to the grief at being rejected. • - Borachio, later boasted about his accomplishments of the plans, and due to the confession, Hero was proven innocent. • - Leonata introduces a niece that is almost exactly same as Hero and they decided to marry. • - The niece turns out to be Hero, and the wedding of Claudio and Hero, and Benedict and Beatrice have been planned. • - They all realize that they have been loving each other all the time. • - Don John is captured, and the story ends.

  4. Thoughts • This play really shows that it is a play by Shakespeare. The story is about the misunderstandings of some events that cause the love between two people to break. Though, in Shakespeare’s stories, when the story reaches the end, it turns out to be a happy ending. They all realize the mistakes and the story ends as a happy ending just like this one.
