INTRODUCTION In recent years, Library network has emerged as the most powerful medium for storage and retrieval of information. become an unavoidable necessity for every institution of higher learning and research. Keeping in view the multidimensional features and application of Network in this paper a comprehensive attempt has been made to assess Use of DELNET by Engineering College Libraries of Haryana.

  3. DELNET DELNET is in operation since January 1988 and was registered as a society in 1992. Total 1147 Libraries have the membership of DELNET Over the globe. Out of which 1131 Libraries are having membership of DELNET in India. 16 International Institutions are having membership of DELNET.

MAJOR SERVICES OF DELNET • Union Catalogue of Books. • Union List of Current & Catalogue Periodicals. • CD-ROM Database, Database of Indian Specialists, Database of Periodical Articles, • Union List of Video Recordings, Urdu Manuscripts' Database, Database of Theses and Dissertations, DEVINSA Database, sample databases of language publications . • Inter library loan (ILL) & Document Delivery Services (DDS)etc. • An array of facilities including E-mail to its member-libraries including both institutional and associate institutional members.

METHODOLOGY The following 12 Engineering Colleges Libraries of Haryana State have the Membership of DELNET • Name of the College Abbreviation Used • Haryana College of technology & Management HCTM • Seth Jai Prakash Mukand Lal Institute of TECH. & MGT JMIT • M.M Institute of Computer & Technology MMICT • B.M Institute of Management & Technology BMIMT • Dronacharya College of Engg. & Technology DREC • Haryana Engineering College HEC • Vaish College of Engineering VCE • Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology APIIT SD INDIA • Manav Rachna Engineering College MREC • Apeejay Engineering College APEEJAY, SOHNA • YMCA Engineering College YMCA Gurgaon Institute of Technology GIT

  7. RESPONDENT STATUS Only eight college librarians returned the filled questionnaire. The librarians of GIT, YMCA, Apeejay and MREC have not returned the filled questionnaires therefore these college libraries have been excluded from the study.

CONCLUSION • DELNET should also have full text PDF or HTML documents for important and demanded documents. • Today user consults DELNET mainly in lack of books, Journals, CD-ROMs etc. or for reference only, but it is spreading its service area to make the pace with the changing technological era. • Achievement: It is found that engineering college libraries seek help from DELNET not only in print media but online also. • Services: It can solve the queries related to teaching and research. Users have the better and multi-dimensional options to get their desired and latest information.
