  2. Program History • Began 2001 2001 Program Director/Instructor 12 students (Jan – Dec) 2008 - 18 students, Program Director & 9-month faculty 2009 – 2 classes, 24 students (Fall start, May graduation) • Lab renovated 2001 – 6 chair clinic • Re-renovated 2006 – 12 chair clinic with DH

  3. Accreditation • American Dental Association, Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) Originally Nationally Accredited 2003 7 year cycle Self Study - 6 standards • New Mexico Board of Dental Health Recognized Education Provider Status

  4. Student Assessment • Three semesters of competency assessment FALL • General chair side & Laboratory Skills - Infection Control/Sterilization • Instrument identification • Model taking, pouring, trimming • Temporary fabrication • Emergency procedures • Radiography • Patient Intake

  5. Student Assessment • Spring Clinical Rotations Begin - Clinical Evaluations - Community Project - Self Evaluations/Reflections - More general chair side and lab skills - Bleaching Tray Construction - Jurisprudence - Specialty Instrumentation

  6. Student Assessment • Summer Clinical Rotations Continue - Clinical Evaluations - Self Evaluations - More general chair side and lab skills - Rubber Dam placement - Office Management
