  2. TODAY IS YOUR LAST WORK DAY THIS WEEK. • WHAT CAN YOU ACCOMPLISH? • Correct and finalize resume • Correct and finalize cover letter • Correct and finalize artifacts • IMPORTANT REMINDERS • YOUR RECOMENDATION LETTERS ARE DUE TOMORROW • YOU FINAL PRODUCT IS DUE MARCH 28th

  3. How should it look? • Your portfolio can be presented in one of three ways: 1.) Placed in a binder (optional: use protective plastic sheets for your papers) 2.) In the folder I gave you (make sure artifacts are clearly labeled if this is the case) 3.) In another appropriate folder (no cartoons, no designs, a plain folder; again, make sure artifacts are clearly labeled)

  4. ORDER OF THE PORTFOLIO • COVER PAGE • TABLE OF CONTENTS • RESUME • COVER LETTER • TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION • COLLEGE ESSAY • THREE ARTIFACTS (doesn’t matter the order)

  5. COVER PAGE • Must be neat, clean, and professional. Should have the student’s name on it and their objective. May use any appropriate font style and size. (5 pts)

  6. TABLE OF CONTENTS • Must have each element of the portfolio listed in order. Spelled correctly. Neatly typed in Times New Roman 12 pt font. (5pts)

  7. RESUME • Must contain all elements of a resume including contact information, educational information, objective, skills/extracurricular activities, references, must be neatly typed in Times New Roman 12 pt font. (10 pts)

  8. COVER LETTER • Must contain all elements of a cover letter including contact information, objective is consistent with resume and cover page, signed at the bottom. Neatly typed in Times New Roman 12 pt font. (10 pts)

  9. LETTERS OF RECOMENDATION • Must be two letters from an employee of Horizon Science Academy (teacher, director, counselor) or from a boss. Letters of recommendation must be signed by the reference and have contact information. (10 pts total; 5 pts each)

  10. COLLEGE ESSAY • Can be either a college essay that was already written, or you can choose from the prompts below. If you use a previously written essay, make sure to include the prompt and the school it was for. Typed in Times New Roman 12 pt font, double-spaced. (10 pts)

  11. ARTIFACT: PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY • Must have one artifact that demonstrates how the student embodies personal responsibility. Must have a paragraph (5-6 sentences) that accompanies it written in 12 pt font Times New Roman double spaced that explains how the artifact demonstrates responsibility and connects to the objective. (10 pts total; 5 pts for artifact, 5 pts for paragraph)

  12. ARTIFACT: ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT • Must have one artifact that demonstrates how the student has achieved some academic achievement. Must have a paragraph (5-6 sentences) that accompanies it written in 12 pt font Times New Roman double spaced that explains how the artifact demonstrates academic achievement and connects to the objective. (10 pts total; 5 pts for artifact, 5 pts for paragraph)

  13. ARTIFACT: CAREER READINESS • Must have one artifact that demonstrates how the student is career ready. Must have a paragraph (5-6 sentences) that accompanies it written in 12 pt front Times New Roman double spaced that explains how the artifact demonstrates that the student is career ready and connects to the stated objective. (10 pts total; 5 pts for artifact, 5 pts for paragraph)

  14. Final Copies • IF you want me to print any of your final copies, you must email me by TUESDAY, MARCH 25th at 3PM. I WILL NOT PRINT ANYTHING SENT TO ME AFTER 3PM. • IF you have already emailed me something, I will try to give you an update today over what I have, and I will have your papers at the latest by MONDAY.
