4. MISSION STATEMENT Provides NBC Decontamination support to the COMMZ. Receives, employs, and commands and controls chemical reconnaissance, biological detection, and other chemical augmentation units. On order, provides NBC decontamination to other United Nations Command (UNC) and Combined Forces Command (CFC) units.

KOREAN AUGMENTEE TO THE U.S. ARMY (KATUSA) • KATUSA Soldier program is designed to augment U.S. Army units to • increase the ROK/U.S. combined defense capability while representing • ROK/U.S. cooperation and commitment to deter war. • Serve a mandatory 26 month conscription, required by ROK Gov’t. for • all able bodied males, in a U.S. Army unit • ROK Army enlisted soldier (SGT or below) • U.S. Army chain of command with ROK Army administrative • management to include UCMJ • Attend ROK Army basic training and a three week KATUSA Training • Academy (KTA) prior to arrival at unit of assignment. • Training includes English, CTT, customs and courtesies training. • Attend a seven week, AIT equivalent course run by the 23d CM BN, • (Decontamination Training Academy- Korea, DTA-K)
