2. 1 Ohz Noez! SPHERUS MAGNA ORIGINAL Core War; draining EP  Planet unstable  GBs make Mata Nui NOTE: They specifically design him to know how to safely reform SM. PROPOSITION: No magma layers on Spherus Magna. Instead: Surface layers of movable earth,thick inner layer of unbending bedrock,and the Energized Protodermis Core.

3. 2 THE SHATTERING Spherus Magna  Bara Magna, Aqua Magna, and Bota Magna (pictured) PROPOSITION: Only the topmost “dirt” layer is fertile. On Aqua Magna, this doesn’t matter much, only creatures live there. But on Bota Magna, the “cutout” arrangement means only one side has fertile soil. Thus the jungle does NOT spread across the whole moon.

4. 3 GRAVITATIONAL ROUNDING Gravity pulls inward on all layers except the bedrock(shown as gray in diagram), rounding Bota Magna (and AM). But on Bara Magna most of what’s left is held in the shape with the giant craters by bedrock formation – except remaining water drains into the craters and the emptied planetary core, leaving the upper surface a desert. THIS ROUNDING IS GRADUAL And it is gentle; no harm to the beings living on Bota Magna, for example.

NOTE: Mata Nui Saga image of Bota Magna hitting Makuta = NON-canon. That image implied Makuta’s head would have destroyed parts of the forest. But that didn’t happen.

6. 5 FAST FORWARD TO FINAL BATTLE Comic series shows Makuta take over Mata Nui’s body, Mata Nui exiled,but take control of smaller, weaker, prototype body. Mata Nui goes all martial arts principle on Makuta,redirects his gravity attack on Bara Magna to instead begin pulling in Aqua Magna and Bota Magna,which the smaller body didn’t have enough energy to do. Now Mata Nui has what he needs to carry out the reforming. BUT MAKUTA IS STILL FIGHTING HIM Either because Mata Nui is distracted, or intentionally to prepare for STEP 6,AQUA MAGNA SPLITSat a weak point. NOTICE the un-rounded bedrock remains flattish, easy to chip off in the violence of unguided atmospheric reentry. Mata Nui focuses on Bota Magna, knowing there are sapient beings there,unlike Aqua Magna. It makes sense he’d be focusing less on guiding AM.

BOOMHeadshot! 6 MAKUTA DEFEATED Mata Nui continues distracting Makuta, lining him up for the collision AQUA MAGNA FRAGMENT HITS MAKUTA Back of Makuta’s head destroyed (Metru Nui is in front of head; left intact) Now Mata Nui is freed up to put all his remaining focus and energiesinto CAREFULLY and GENTLY guiding the final stage of the reforming.

Slow… 7 MATA NUI GUIDES THE MOONS INTO PLACE Many people seem to assume he carelessly just lets them smash into each otherat high speed THIS IS WHERE THE MISCONCEPTIONS GET VERY ILLOGICAL Mata Nui has been specially programmed for this by the brilliant Great BeingsHe knows how to do itAnd now thanks to his martial arts redirection of Makuta’s energiesHE’S GOT DA POWUH!despite being stuck in the smaller body Just like a car slows down and brakes before parking at a destination, MATA NUI SLOWS THE MOONS DOWN AT THE LAST SECOND So they land in the craters gently, NOT crash violently

9. 8 BIONICLE PHYSICS =/= EARTH PHYSICS The misconceptions also go way wrong when they assume a giant robot CAN’T guide the moons,or wouldn’t. This is the same story where Toa shoot beams of ice and use mask powers. THE KEY IS A “POWER” This power is a giant-scale version of the Kanohi Matatu, the Mask of Telekinesiswhich enables the user to move things around with their minds. MATA NUI HAS AN ACTUAL REFORMING POWER Both in the prototype body (helped by Makuta’s redirected energies) and in the original.This is the whole point of Mata Nui, so of course he has the power & know-how!

Mission completeyay bye 9 AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER Mata Nui’s Reforming Power guides the layers of movable earth & water aroundand gently spreads out the Bota Magna forest, simply reversing the gentle gravitational rounding. NOTE: To prevent another Shattering, the inner layer of rock must be stabilized. THIS WOULD NOT BE EASY TO LEARN This may be why the GBs first needed Mata Nui to observe other worlds first,to study how a planet similar to Spherus Magna can be stable without the EP. Purple here indicates how the power modified the Core to achieve this. Perhaps Mata Nui had finally been on his way back to do just thiswhen Makuta cast him into slumber, which could be why he landed on Aqua Magna.
