What you will learn • Objective: To understand how to get more clients and build your practice using the internet. • Outcome: • You can explain why the internet is so important in your marketing efforts. • You know how to write for your website to attract clients. • You know how to move your website up the Google rankings and get your site seen first.

  3. Types of marketing • Outbound – Traditional. You go to them……… • Leaflets. • Advertisements in shop windows. • Newspaper advertisements.

  4. Types of marketing • Inbound – they come to you….. • Most important Your website • Also think about: • Social media; share your ideas and feelings and connect

Why use the internet? • 97% of all research – even about local markets - is carried out using the internet. • You can attract a huge (international) market – the sky is the limit. • Proportionally set up costs are low when compared to offline marketing, but you still need to be prepared to invest. • You can begin to build relationships with potential clients before they have ever met you.

  6. Internet marketing myths • All you need to do is build a website and then walk away and forget about it. • Your site will naturally rise in Google as it gets older. • If you swap links with your mates your site will go up the rankings. • Clients don’t take much notice of your website, it’s just a tool to get them to phone you.

Your Text (copy) • Make it personal – invite the potential client to connect with you. • Keep “therapy talk” to a minimum – no one cares about your qualifications or your discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of various modalities! • The potential client just wants to know “How will you help me deal with my stress/anxiety/relationship issues?” • Why you? What makes you special?
