  1. Hurst Tool Technique for Removing Doors Simultaneously

  2. Effective when: • Side impact has the front door pushed up against the victims legs. • Front impact has the B-post blocking access to the victim. • Anytime removing both doors is necessary. • Front door damaged to the point that it is difficult or not possible to force.

  3. Getting started: • Stabilize the scene, vehicle, and the victim • Remove all the vehicle glass • With spreaders, force the rear door from the Nader pin/Latch pin

  4. Once rear door is forced: • Expose the seatbelt mechanism at the bottom of the B-post • Place cutters under the mechanism and make as deep of cut as possible into the B-post • Cut the top of the B-post

  5. After cuts are made: • With the spreaders, place one tip on the rocker panel and the other near the bottom hinge of the rear door. • Start to spread. You may need to readjust the spreaders or make a 2nd cut in the bottom of the B-post

  6. End result: • Once you begin spreading, the entire B-post should start to rip away from the rocker panel, taking with it the rear door and the front door as one piece
