HealthGrades (Nasdaq:HGRD) is a leading healthcare ratings organization, providing ratings and profiles of hospitals, nursing homes and physicians to consumers, corporations, health plans and hospitals. Consumers employers, health plans and hospitals use HealthGrades' ratings to make healthcare decisions based on the quality of care. The firm, founded in 1999, is headquartered in Golden, Colorado, and has 100 employees.

    3. Third Annual Patient Safety in American Hospitals Study Included patient safety incident rates for every non-federal hospital in the country. Used three years of Medicare data (2002 2004). Included 16 of 20 indicators for potentially preventable patient safety incidents identified by AHRQ in collaboration with the University of California-Stanford Evidence-Based Practice Center.
