  2. History of History • New version: draft-irtf-routing-history-01.txt • Originally part of ‘Group B’ future routing requirements draft • Split off from actual requirements when these were combined with ‘Group A’ work • Effectively dormant for about three years

Yes Documents at least partially how IDR got to where it was in 2001 Partial view of what has happened since It looks at the historic influences and sees what we can still learn And more Also a problem statement Documents the issues which the requirements should be addressing And a summary of current work Some views of research input Is it really history? (Take 1)

  4. Updates since -00 • Minimal clean up - updated boilerplate • Added: • Note on trials and progress of multi6 • Update on DARPA NewArch • View that the document is still relevant

  5. What next? • Review the legacy of RFC1126 section • Has the world of IDR moved on? • What more do we know today? • Look at the tools now available • Have they changed? • Look at the academic research • BGP stability and NewArch • Revisit the problem statement • Input from operators/registries

  6. Known missing pieces • Summary of ISO work on IDR issues • Review of impact of RFC2547 now it has been deployed • Update on views of QoS routing and impact of DiffServ • Impact of delay tolerant networks and sensor networks

  7. Is it history? (Take 2) • Should we take it further? • Or just publish the snapshot • Should it be renamed? • “Review and Problem Statement” ? • Need people to • Record their oral history • Write sections • Be reviewers
