This document requests the formation of a study group to examine industry interest in and participation for extending the analog/mixed-signal (AMS) standards to IEEE Std. 1666, the “SystemC Language Reference Manual,” with the goal of standardizing the SystemC AMS language. The proposal is similar to the VHDL-AMS standard and envisions the AMS language standard becoming a “dot.1” standard to IEEE1666. The system has already released SystemC AMS 2.0 standard in March 2013 by Accellera Systems Initiative, with standardization starting in the Open SystemC Initiative in 2006, now part of Accellera Systems Initiative. The document outlines the anticipated industry interest and participation from IEEE-SA members such as NXP Semiconductors, STMicroelectronics, and Fraunhofer IIS/EAS, proposing the formation of an entity-based study group. The initial work of the study group will focus on creating a Project Authorization Request (PAR) for standardizing the SystemC AMS language reference manual.

P1666.1 Study group request (1) • Request for a study group to examine industry interest and participation for analog/mixed-signal (AMS) extensions standard to IEEE Std. 1666, “SystemC Language Reference Manual” • Objective is to standardize the “SystemC AMS language reference manual” • Similar as for VDHL-AMS (IEEE Std. 1076.1) we envision the AMS language standard becoming a “dot 1” standard to IEEE1666
P1666.1 Study group request (2) • SystemC AMS 2.0 standard has been released by Accellera Systems Initiative in March 2013 • Standardization started in Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI) in 2006, now part of Accellera Systems Initiative • SystemC AMS standard development > 7 years • Anticipated industry interest and participation from the following IEEE-SA members: • NXP Semiconductors, STMicroelectronics, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS • Therefore we propose the creation of an entity based study group • Initial work of the study group: create PAR
