  1. BLACK DAHLIA INVESTIGATION 2010 “FOR THE RECORD” WAS THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER SOLVED? Victim- Elizabeth “Black Dahlia” Short Suspect- George Hill Hodel M.D. LOS ANGELES’ TOP COPS SPEAK OUT

  2. LAPD Det. Brian Carr (ret.) “I don't have the time to prove or disprove what he [Hodel] is saying. I'm buried in other cases that are possibly solvable. No, I don't think the case [Black Dahlia] will ever be solved.” LAPD Detective Brian Carr Bill Kurtis Cold Case Files interview on Black Dahlia, 2006 (Detective Carr was the self professed “Gatekeeper” of the locked files from 1996 until his retirement from LAPD in May, 2009) Case Status- “Inactive”

  3. “We identified the Black Dahlia suspect. He was a doctor.” William H. Parker LAPD Chief of Police 1950-1966

  4. “The Black Dahlia case was solved. He was a doctor who lived on Franklin Avenue in Hollywood. “ Thad Brown LAPD Chief of Detectives 1950 -1966 Appointed LAPD Chief of Police 1966 Thad Brown LAPD Chief of Detectives

  5. “We know who the Black Dahlia killer was. He was a doctor, but we didn’t have enough to put him away. Lt. Frank B. Jemison DA Bureau of Investigation Assigned as Officer-in-Charge by 1949 Grand Jury to reinvestigate Black Dahlia Murder Lt. Frank Jemison DA Bureau of Investigation

  6. “The Black Dahlia Case was solved., but it will never come out. The suspect was a doctor they all knew in Hollywood, involved in abortions.” Undersheriff James Downey to J. Gordon Bowers, Chief of Detectives Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept (statement made circa 1961) LASD Det. J. Gordon Bowers 1947 seen investigating possible “clue” in the Black Dahlia Murder

  7. Los Angeles County, Active Head DDA Steve Kay “Based on the results of Steve Hodel’s investigation I would have no reservations about filing two counts of murder against Dr. George Hill Hodel. [Elizabeth Short “Black Dahlia” and Jeanne French “Red Lipstick Murder.” ] L.A. Head Dep. DA Steve Kay, April, 2003 Public statement made after full review of investigation & exhibits “I have no doubt in my mind that George Hodel murdered Elizabeth Short, …If the witnesses were alive today, I believe if I took that case in front of a jury that I would convict him. L.A. Head Dep. DA Steve Kay, Rue 13 French television documentary, The Truth About The Black DahliaNov. 6, 2006

  8. “In 1962 I was a detective and I was the driver for Undersheriff James Downey who was the Sheriff Department’s #2 man. … One day he was going to lunch with his good friend, Gordy Bowers, Chief of Detectives. Somehow the Black Dahlia murder case came up in conversation. I heard Jimmy say, “Oh, that had been solved, but it will never come out. It was some doctor they all knew out in Hollywood.” “In my own professional opinion Hodel has put the pieces together and solved the case.” LASD Commander Tom Vetter on CBS Television Interview, Oct. 2004

  9. James McMurray LAPD Chief of Detectives “The hardcover book was pretty compelling. Then when all transcripts and stuff came out from the DA’s Office, that took it over the top for me. That would have been enough for me to bring a case against doctor Hodel. “ James McMurray, LAPD Chief of Detectives L.A. Times Magazine, Nov. 21, 2004 “I have told my detectives, unless they can find some major holes in Hodel’s investigation TO GO AHEAD AND CLEAR THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER.” LAPD Chief James McMurray, Chief of Detectives, Nov. 2004 (Chief McMurray retired from LAPD in 2005)

  10. LAPD – LASD – L.A D.A. BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION COMMANDERS PAST AND PRESENT ALL AGREE Despite the nearly sixty-year chasm that divides the Black Dahlia investigation past and present, we now have statements from the four highest ranking original case detectives ALL INDEPENDENTLY CONFIRMING THAT THE BLACK DAHLIA CAS WAS SOLVED. These four detectives were directly involved in the original Dahlia investigation and privy to its secrets. They represented all three law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles: the city [LAPD], the county [LA Sheriffs] and the L.A.D.A., the prosecutor for both city and county. Their statements are all the more remarkable, in that they were made in absolute confidence, yet each independently substantiates the others, though each statement derives from a separate person, place and time. That’s corroboration! None of these command officers statements were ever intended to be made public. Each was a personal and private communication, which remained private decades after their respective deaths. All four indict the same man, “a Hollywood physician, living on Franklin Avenue, involved in abortions.” In 2003, after more than fifty-years of secrecy, the DA allows Steve Hodel to examine the Hodel-Black Dahlia Files, and Hodel Surveillance Tapes, which identify the doctor as: DR. GEORGE HILL HODEL, 5121 Franklin Ave, Hollywood.
