  2. The concentration holocaust.

  3. How many people died during the holocaust ? • It is estimated that 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust. Six million of these were Jews. • The Nazis killed approximately two-thirds of all Jews living in Europe. • An estimated 1.1 million children were murdered in the Holocaust.

  4. Adolf Hitler • Almost immediately following his rise to power, Hitler began the creation of concentration camps. Initially these were designed to incarcerate political prisoners (enemies of the regime), criminals and security risks. While conditions were, predictably, horrible in these camps, and while the death rates were high, there is no evidence that they were used for extermination purposes.

The Nazi soldiers • By the late 1930s there were literally hundreds of camps scattered throughout Germany and with the Nazi takeover of Czechoslovakia, Austria, Poland, Holland and France, camps were established throughout the Reich. The death rates were so high, from malnutrition, typhus and exhaustion that the disposal of corpses became a serious problem.

  6. SAD STORIES • Think about what life would be like if you had to live in a world of terror. Every single day you walk outside and think the world is coming to a end. You would see people dying before your eyes . If you were lucky you might have a chance to survive.

  7. By 1942 the Germans had 6 death camps. Some death camps were Auschwitz, Belzec, Chelmno, Majedanik, Sobibor, T.II. Some more were Bergen- Belson, Buchenwald, Dachau, Sachsenhausen, Treblinka, Theresienstadt. Theses camps were forced worked camp and not killing camps. The bigger the camps got

  8. Nearly 20,000 Concentration camps were established by the Nazis between 1933 and 1945. Glorifying the extermination of Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, gypsies, German Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, Jehovah's Witnesses, homosexuals and individuals with socially deviant behaviors, all regarded as "enemies of the state", the Third Reich used these camps primarily as extermination camps for mass murder. Concentration camps were also used as forced-labor camps, where thousands of prisoners suffered from exhaustion, starvation, and exposure and died under horrible and painful labor conditions.
