  1. NTS Gas Connections ‘website’ 1st December 2011

  2. Background • 0373 Workgroup and bilateral feedback indicates that the NTS Connections ‘website’ requires reorganisation and will require improvements to support 0373 • We are providing an interim update from 1st December 2011 prior to the 0373 implementation 2012 date • NTS Connections website to improve transparency by providing linkages to other connection-related areas e.g. Transmission Planning Code, charging, UNC Capacity regime information, etc. • National Grid considers this as a pragmatic approach rather than undermining 0373 – which we fully support

  3. Why now? • Indicates National Grid’s support of our customers’ expectations in the new NTS Connections process i.e. our Customer Commitment • Commencing a trial run of the new NTS Connections Application Form/process – customer feedback is welcome • ‘0373’ draft Application Form will bedownloadable (word doc) with a User Guide to help customers with completion of the form • In conjunction with our customers, National Grid wishes to define and agree on the content and look of the NTS Connections website that will be effective from April 2012

  4. National Transmission System (NTS) - Gas Connections • Welcome to the NTS Gas Connections Homepage. This page aims to provide information for developers of gas entry, exit and storage projects with some initial guidance on how to get a ‘large scale project’connection to the NTS. In this case, 'large scale projects' refers to: • A direct entry facility - a connection that will deliver gas into the NTS, or • A direct exit facility - a connection that will offtake gas directly from the NTS, or • A direct storage facility - a connection that will operate as a gas storage site on the NTS. • Please Note – Important: Any new NTS connection project must intend to flow in excess of 58,614,200 kWh (2,000,000 therms) per annum in order to be allowed to connect to the NTS. • Industry led changes to the NTS Connections Processes: • Under the Uniform Network Code Modification Proposal 0373 “Governance of the NTS Connections processes”, the industry is reviewing the process of how projects obtain a new (or revised) NTS connection. We anticipate the implementation of a new NTS connections framework during 2012 to reflect the outcome of this review.

  5. National Grid has commenced trialling a new Application process in readiness for an implementation of Mod0373.This web page is an interim solution and will be updated in parallel to events driven by the Mod0373. If you wish to familiarise yourself with the Mod0373, please use the following link to the Joint Office of Gas Transporters: www.gasgovernance.co.uk/0373 In the first instance, National Grid recommends that if you would like to discuss your requirements for a connection to the NTS then, after reviewing the basic NTS Connections Guide and the associated documents, please contact one of the following people for a pre application discussion. They will be happy to discuss with you in more detail the process of connecting to the NTS:

  6. Basic Guide to obtaining an NTS connection We have produced a basic guide to obtaining a connection to the NTS which can be downloaded here. This guide makes reference to a number of industry documents which can be found below: Connection Related Documents Licence Condition 4b statement Connection Charging Statement Transmission Planning Code Standard Connection Clauses Capacity Related Documents NTS Incremental Entry Capacity Release Methodology NTS Exit Capacity Release Methodology Statement. 7. NTS Connection Application Form and Guide Our Gas Connections Team is the initial point of contact for your gas connection to the NTS.  Should you wish to contact us to progress your enquiry please complete an NTS Connection Application Form which can be downloaded here: NTS Connection Application Form A User Guide to help complete the Application Form can be found here: NTS Connection Application Guide
