  2. Posture, Movement, and expressions When people speak they convey two messages. 1. verbal-any written or spoken language. 2. Nonverbal-communication that is neither written or spoken. These communication styles together create a speaker’s delivery

  3. Activity This exercise will help you practice nonverbal communication skills. In order to do this we will play charades.

  4. The Captain Classroom will be divided into two teams or smaller groups. Each team will have a captain. The captain will determine the order in which his or her team participates. The captains will be in the tiebreaker if needed.

  5. Rules of the game A player chosen by the captain will, and draw a slip of paper out of the opposing team’s basket. The player then has 2 min. to act out the scenario with nonverbal communication only. Only his or her team members can guess the answer. Time will be checked by a member of the opposing team.

  6. Successful Delivery Use your hands to express your ideas: Volume (make sure you loud enough so that everyone can here you.) Show Energy (to show the audience you are passionate about the topic.) Vocabulary (do not use words the average audience member would not understand.) Be confident (about your topic.)

  7. Use Articulation Which is making sure you pronounce your words clearly and slowly the way they are spelled.

  8. Body Management Face your audience Make eye contact Make appropriate facial jester Dress appropriately Have good posture and stand up straight

  11. Activity We are going to divide into groups of four Then on a sheet of paper in 2 mins. write down: Some things to share about yourself Each person will give a 2 min speech to there group using what the wrote
