  2. What is a scar? • After a wound or injury heals on the surface of the skin, a mark is left. This mark is called a scar.

  3. What causes scars? • Scars have countless causes. Some are: • Burns • Acne • Surgical Incisions • Warts • Scrapes • Cuts • Abrasions

  4. What signals a scar? • The patch of skin that is likely to develop a scar may become itchy, painful, or sensitive. • The severity of a scar may depend on its location, depth, and size. • Other factors contributing to the scar’s later appearance include gender, ethnicity, age, and heredity.
