  1. Flower Leis Carnation Flower Leis

  2. Single Carnation Flower Leis • Supplies needed: • Lei needle • 25 carnation blooms • Strong tooth floss or sturdy thread or string • Clippers

  3. Making the Lei • Cut a long piece of floss about 2 yards, lengths can vary in size • Thread floss through the lei needle so that the floss is doubled • Peirce carnations through the bottom of the bloom in the center and push down the needle • After each bloom add a 1” length of a drinking straw

  4. Making the Lei • Continue adding bloom with a straw in between each bloom and pushing down the needle and on to the string • The straws help space the carnations apart allowing you to use less blooms

  5. Finishing the Lei • Thread all 25 blooms and finish by tying the ends together • Make sure the knot is secure before cutting the excess string off

  6. Single Carnation Leis • Great for Graduation/parties • Can easily be made in school colors • Great Fundraiser opportunity
