  1. 'Sri Lanka tour important,’ says Kuldeep Yadav Young India spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s career has seen a rough patch for the last few months. Being the first choice India spinner to see himself out of the playing XI and eventually drop from the squad, Yadav faced everything as well. With the T20 World Cup is around the corner, the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka is going to be very important for Kuldeep. The left-arm spinner is aware that only consistent performance can get him a place in India’s T20 World Cup squad later this year. While talking to The Telegraph, he said that nothing is equal to performance, and he believes if he performs, he knows he’ll definitely return.

Kuldeep Yadav, who is the only Indian to have two hat-tricks in international cricket, said that a good outing in Sri Lanka followed by the rest of the IPL 2021 games in the UAE can guarantee him a place in the Indian limited-overs side once again. “This Sri Lanka tour is very, very important because, first of all,I’m not a part of the Test squad (in England). And secondly, this is one good opportunity to play and perform. Thereafter, we’ve got the IPL as well, which gives me another opportunity to be back in the reckoning,” Kuldeep said before the squad’s departure. “And honestly, I’m not thinking much about a T20 World Cup berth now because it eventually boils down to how well I keep doing. There’s healthy competition in the squad, so I know what my job is.” However, Kuldeep Yadav last featured in blue in the last two ODIs during the home series against England where he went wicketless and conceded 68 and 84 runs as well. Howveer, he didn’t get to play a single game for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL as well. Hope he manages to get some game time there too when the league will resume in the UAE during September-October window.
