賞鳥天堂---杉林溪 杉林溪藥花園內培植數百棵俗稱狀 元紅每逢9月中旬至11月初鮮紅果實 成熟時，必吸引眾多畫眉科鳥類前 來覓食，包括白耳畫眉、冠羽畫眉、 藪鳥、紋翼畫眉等保育類鳥種。
超近距離賞鳥點 因台東火刺木植株高約1公尺至3公 尺，當上述鳥種忘情覓食的時候， 遊客可至約2公尺的近距離欣賞牠們 的鳥姿倩影，像模特兒般飛到您眼 前，搔首弄姿、 POSS十足。
台東火刺木 台東火刺木--俗稱狀元紅 科名：薔薇科 Rosaceae 學名: Pyracantha koidzumii (Hayata) Rehder 英名：Taiwan firethorn 分佈：特產台灣東部海岸山脈溪流河 床區域。本屬植物台灣僅產一 種，天然生育地極狹，屬稀有 性且具高觀賞價值。
