National Environmental Information Network (NEIN) 1 • An integrated database for reliable, comparable and available environmental information. • An information exchange network at national level. • A flexible tool for public access to environmental information. • A motivation mechanism for the production of all needed information from all involved parties. • A tool for supporting policy making and application. • The national link to EIONET.

National Environmental Information Network (NEIN) 2 • National wide network (FrameRelay – HellasPac II). • Eleven (11) nodes in 5 Regions: Attica, Central Macedonia, Hpeiros, Crete, Northern Aegean. • Eleven (11) environmental topic areas. • Distributed architecture, Client – server model. • Database applications (ORACLE). • Geographic Information Systems (ArcView/ArcInfo). • Possibility for data presentation on the INTERNET.
