  2. The Grant... • Thanks to Chesapeake Bay Trust (CBT) • Thanks to HC Master Gardeners • Elementary Office wrote the grant - schools will be refunded bus cost through the grant $, only after payment is made • Procedures for reimbursement are included in the Buffer paperwork on DR

Let’s Talk Safety... • Ticks, Ticks, Ticks... • Use information from teachers guides! • Sample letter to parents has website http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/ehrlichia/Prevention/Prevention.htm • Lesson 7 of Q3 is to prepare students - do this lesson BEFORE going on trip! • Helpful trick - bring along clear packing tape to easily kill/capture ticks that may be around students

This IS the capstone project for Elementary Science! • This collaborative project is the envy of many school systems • It is an integral piece of the curriculum - culminates 4th and 5th grade units • Fantastic element of the MAEOE Green School Certification Process • Political “hot topic” - perfect connection for SCH

Time to “swap” ideas... • If you would like to stay and share/get ideas... • Move around the room and get into groups of 3 • Share and/or listen to ideas from other teachers and schools about how they prepare for or follow up to the field trip • These ideas will be collected and shared on the DR for others to benefit from!
