EMRO’s Mission in Accreditation • To encourage the establishment of National Systems for Accreditation in Health Professions Education in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. • To recognize HPE Institutions which comply with the WHO Guidelines for accreditation and for future inclusion in the EMRO’s Directory.

  8. Through WHO Consultation and peer-review visits to a number of HPEI in the EMR, we have witnesses different styles of approaching accreditation issue

Road Map for Accreditation • At the National Level • Launching an awareness campaign • Establishment of a national system for accreditation that includes: • An accreditation law to be endorsed by the Parliament • Bylaws that regulates accreditation • An independent National Accreditation Authority • Development of National Standards (or adaptation of Global Standards) • Development of Academic Reference Standards (NARS) • Quality Assurance and Accreditation Centers in Every University

  14. Final Word • Accreditation is not a certificate that we proudly hang on the wall of the dean’s office, but a means for continuous improvement and hard work to reach out for the stars
