  2. Introduction • New technology is part of everyday life in school. • We complied a questionnaire to see what regular users thought.

  4. Our questionnaire results “Mobile technology is of huge benefit to all children. It is a chance to push those who are more able and talented pupils.” “Our devices do not replace pen and paper, they are enhancement tools which aid different learning styles.”

  5. What are the benefits? • Motivation to learn and participate in lessons. • Improved knowledge of up to date information and technology. • Opportunities to practise skills across the curriculum in a fun and enjoyable way.

  6. Media coverage One of Casllwchwr Primary School’s Apple Ambassadors, Isobel Bass, became the youngest ever winner of the BT Internet Ranger Award. This is a national competition which recognises the excellent work young people carry out in their communities with regards to sharing skills and teaching other community members the benefits of using the internet. Headteacher Simon Pridham said, “Isobel travels around schools and conferences with us as one of our ambassadors and recently spent time with one of our governors, Rev. Geoff Turner, showing him how to effectively use the new iPad 2 he had bought. On the strength of her work she was recommended for the award and was successfully chosen as the Welsh Regional winner. “She is the youngest ever winner of the BT Internet Ranger Award and we are all extremely proud of her.” http://learnictblog.wordpress.com/page/2/

  9. Health risks Working for prolonged periods of time on an iPad could cause neck and upper back problems. There could also be a case of R.S.I.* when using ipods and iPhones due to the fact that people use restrictive movements. * Repetitive strain injury

  11. Security • Staff must sign out any equipment being used in the classroom. • Access will be restricted by passwords, adult supervision and blocked websites.

  13. Conclusion The way technology is used in schools today is a wonderful opportunity for our children. They are taught from 3 years of age to embrace all the devices and the knowledge they will gain from it. It is certainly the way forward for our adults of the future.
