  2. What? • An exploratory research • Anchored to the provisions (or no provisions) within RTE • Focused on situations of dis-advantaged and marginalized group and their children. • Samples spread across three locations – Kol./Bangalore/Yadgir

  3. Background - • RTE and universalization of primary education • Reaching out to ALL children – primary focus • Silent on “HOW” to address specific challenges of many marginalized communities/population. • One of such community is WiP • The current proposal envisages to explore the situation of children of WiP.

  4. Primary Objectives - A) To understand the educational status of children of WiP in terms of availability and access to education. B) To understand the impact of local socio-economic and political factors on cognitive development of learners

  5. Framework - • Situational Understanding of WiP and their children. - Broad categories of classifications • Cognitive learning & factors therein - Informal environment - Formal environment - environmental factors influencing the learners’ performance in the school - bridging the gap between informal environment and formal environment
