  2. Timeline … • New student dress code takes effect on first day of school - August 20 , 2008

  3. The Philosophy… The dress code is designed to allow for student comfort while maintaining an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the educational setting.

  4. What is permitted? • Collared shirts, polo shirts, T-shirts, turtlenecks, sweaters, sweatshirts, vests, pants, jeans, Capri pants, skirts, skorts, shorts, culottes, jumpers and dresses • Hooded sweatshirts, provided the hood is not worn • Shirts, tops, blouses or dresses that have sleeves or cover the area from neckline to shoulder • Tops must be tucked in or overlap bottom garment

  5. Acceptable Male Attire … • Shorts of acceptable length • Shorts and jeans worn at proper waistline • Collared shirts and T-shirts acceptable • Appropriate footwear

  6. Acceptable Female Attire … • Shorts of acceptable length • Tops cover area from neckline to shoulder and overlap bottom garment • Collared shirts and T-shirts acceptable

  7. Other Acceptable Attire … • Tops overlap bottom garment and cover area from neckline to shoulder • Pants and jeans worn at proper waistline • Appropriate footwear

  8. What is not permitted? • Any article of clothing which displays obscene words, pictures or designs; any article that conveys a sexually suggestive remark, a pro-alcohol message, a tobacco and /or drug related message. • Skirts, shorts, skorts, culottes, jumpers or dresses where hemline is more than two inches above the top of the kneecap while student is standing. • Shirts or blouses that DO NOT cover shoulders, chest, back, waist, midriff, and cleavage.

  9. What is not permitted? • Pants, shorts, skirts, or skorts that sag below the waistline • Visible clothing that is designed to be worn as an undergarment. • Stretch lycra, spandex or nylon tights, leotards, biker pants, or underwear worn as outer garments. • Pajamas, loungewear, and slippers.

  10. What is not permitted? * Head wear to include, but not limited to hats, hoods, sweatbands, bandannas, do-rags, skull caps, surgical caps, ear muffs, scarves, baseball caps, picks, rakes, and combs. • Sunglasses • Dog collars, chains, wallet chains, safety pins, spike jewelry, or fishhooks worn as jewelry, accessories or ornamentation.

  13. Inappropriate Attire … Left: Top doesn’t cover neckline to shoulder; hemline more than three inches above kneecap, cleavage visible Right: Dress is acceptable.
