  2. What is persuasive writing? • In persuasive writing, a writer takes a position for or against an issue and writes to convince the reader to believe or do something. • The purpose is to get the reader to accept a point of view.

  3. Why do we use persuasive writing? • Sales – advertisements • Recommendation • Complaint • Request

  4. Types of persuasive writing Purpose • Sales • Recommendation • Complaint • Request Example • TV advertisement about products • Letters to colleges or agencies • Letters to companies about products • Parent letter to a teacher to request extended time for homework completion

  5. How to write persuasive letters?

  6. STATING AND SUPPORTING AN OPINION • State your opinion clearly. • Support it with strong reasons. • Put your reasons in the order that will be most convincing. • Use facts, references or examples to back the opinion.
