  5. These beautiful hand made quilts are tied directly to Plains Indian mythology and Star Knowledge, and they are used in many sacred ceremonies. They also take center stage in births, weddings, and funerals, making the Star Quilt important throughout Plains life. In recent times, the Star Quilt's popularity has spread beyond the Plains, and they are now found among many different Indian Tribes all across America.

  6. Star Quilt Vocabulary • Eleven Row Star: The star has 11 rows, or rings, of diamonds. This star can have up to 11 fabric colors.

  7. Nine Row Star: The star has 9 rows, or rings, of diamonds. This star can have up to 9 fabric colors.

  8. Seven Row Star: The star has 7 rows, or rings, of diamonds. This star can have up to 7 fabric colors.

  9. Five Row Star: The star has 5 rows, or rings, of diamonds. This star can have up to 5 fabric colors.
