A Bit Of History • Apple’s first tablet computer was the Newton MessagePad 100, in 1993. • They also developed a prototype PowerBood Duo-based tablet, the PenLite • They decided not to release because it might hurt the MessagePad’s sales • They released several more MessagePads with the final one, being the MessagePad 2100, discontinued in 1998.
An iPad is Born • The IPad was announced on January 27, 2010 • It was released on April 3, 2012 • It originally had a single core cpu and 256MB of ram which was soon overshadowed by the iPhone 4 • It had no USB port • Had an app store that allowed people to easily buy apps
Gen 2 • The iPad 2 had: • a dual core CPU and 512MB of Ram, • a camera, • was thinner and lighter form • a retina display • (2048x1536 resolution with 264 ppi) • A USB port
Gen 3 • The iPad 3 added: • a Retina display, • the new Apple A5X chip with a quad-core graphics processor, • a 5 megapixel camera, • HD 1080p video recording, • voice dictation, • 4G (LTE)[8] • Siri
