CARE/ASAS ACTIVITY 2 FOLLOW-UP:VALIDATION FRAMEWORKDISSEMINATION FORUM Validation Data Repository Presentation & Demonstration 10 October 2002 EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre Presenters: Keith Vickery (EUROCONTROL) Irini Stavridou (EUROCONTROL)
The Validation Data Repository • Supports the use of a common methodical approach to ATM validation (i.e. MAEVA, EUROCONTROL’S EATMP Validation Strategy): • a repository of validation activities (i.e. objectives, exercises, inputs, outputs) • common reference structures • operational context - concepts and scenarios • technical - indicators/metrics, techniques, tools etc • Intended to be a source of validation information for all
The VDR and CARE-ASAS • CARE/ASAS specified requirements for a VF database • VDR identified as a potential existing solution • VDR found to be compliant - with some specific additions: • development of CARE-ASAS specific information “views” • development of CARE-ASAS specific information reports
The CARE/ASAS VDR “View”: SCENARIO PROJECT VF TEMPLATE SCENARIO PARAMETERS ASAS CONCEPT HIGH LEVEL OBJECTIVES SOURCE DOCUMENTS(s)
VDR in operation • Internet access • Standard browser - www.eurocontrol.int/eatmp/vdr • Security features • Data Ownership - CARE/ASAS • Public/Restricted data - CARE/ASAS is Restricted - CARE/ASAS members log on (ID + password) • Source Documents are protected • Support Services: • Web site maintenance • User guidance material • Optional: introduction courses, support to projects • Contact by e-mail: vdr.support@eurocontrol.int
VDR - as an exercise repository: • Provides research source of validation exercises (operational context, objectives, design and outputs) • Input and browsing facilities • “Starter” set of pre-configured analysis and summary reports • Populated with past projects: • PHARE • EOLIA • Link 2000+: Business Case, Model Based Fast Time • PETAL-I • Common reference data: • Techniques and Tools • Indicators and Metrics (some data captured from CARE/ASAS Activity 2, WP2 System Performance Metrics)
Short term plans • VDR support of CARE/ASAS: • Develop ASAS repository query by Methodology • Enhance “views” to show hierarchy structure of objectives and concepts • Enhance reporting - feedback required • VDR as a Validation Exercise repository: • Continue to populate with existing exercise and reference information (PETAL-II, MTCD, Link 2000+ Real Time Simulation) • Extend use of VDR to other projects (e.g. ADS) • Enhance information retrieval and reporting
Conclusion • VDR is populated with WP1: Scenario Framework • The VDR is available to CARE/ASAS members: • to access WP1 outputs (restricted to CARE/ASAS access) • to access all public views of validation information • Feedback encouraged - the VDR web site is under continual development Please use it!
