Review Day • Agenda • Discuss cheat sheet • Where to go on wiki
Fold paper in ½ hot dog fashion • Label each square • Monatomic • Binary ionic • Ternary ionic • Binary molecular • Organic • Acids • Back for rules on drawing structures
Monatomic - 8 • Cations • Name the metal + ion • Name of transition metal + (charge) + ion • Anions • Change ending to -ide
Binary Ionic - 9 • Name the metal, Zn, Ag, Cd • If transition metal, Sn or Pb, add (charge) • Name the nonmetal • ide ending
Ternary ionic - 11 • Name the cation, Zn, Ag, Cd • If transition metal, Sn or Pb, add (charge) • Name the anion
Binary Molecular - 8 • Name the first nonmetal • Add prefix if other than mono • Name the second nonmetal • Add prefix
Organic - 8 • Name prefix based on # C’s • Name root based on type of bonds between C’s • CnH2n+2 • CnH2n • CnH2n-2 • Add suffix if OH or COOH
Acids - 8 • -ide • Add hydro – “base name” –ic acid • -ite • Change to –ous acid • -ate • Change to –ic acid
Structures - 6 • Linear • Trigonal planar • Tetrahedral • Show all valence electrons necessary to complete octet
Wiki review • Chemistry online review • Go through old ppt • Go through practice naming acids and organic • Go through old test
