    4. O neoplatonismo começou com o filósofo Plotino (ca. 205 - 270), natural de Licopólis, Egito, foi discípulo de Amônio Sacas por 11 anos e mestre de Porfírio. Plotino nos legou seus ensinamentos em seis livros, de nove capítulos cada, chamados de As Enéadas.

    7. *Apesar de muitos neoplatônicos não o admitirem, o “neoplatonismo” era boa dose de diferente da doutrina platônica.

    8. *Os neoplatônicos não acreditavam no mal.O que outros chamavam de mal, os neoplatônicos chamavam de imperfeição, de "ausência de bem". Neoplatônicos acreditavam que a perfeição humana e a felicidade poderiam ser obtidas neste mundo e que alguém não precisaria esperar uma pós-vida.

    10. *O neoplatonismo pode ser considerado como o último e supremo esforço do pensamento clássico para resolver o problema filosófico, que tinha encontrado um obstáculo intransponível no dualismo e racionalismo gregos - dualismo e racionalismo que nem sequer o gênio sintético e profundo de Aristóteles conseguiu superar.
