Understanding the Structure of a Paragraph: Key Components and Functions
A paragraph is a coherent unit of writing that focuses on a single topic through a group of related sentences. It consists of three essential parts: the topic sentence, supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence. The topic sentence introduces the main idea, while supporting sentences provide examples and details to elaborate on this idea. Finally, the concluding sentence summarizes the key points and often rephrases the topic sentence, reinforcing the paragraph's message. This structure enhances clarity and effectiveness in writing.
