Pravikoff, Tanner & Pierce (2005)- lack of time, lack of skills, lack of autonomy Estabrooks, et al (2003)- positive association between individual beliefs and RU Fineout-Overholt, Melnyk, & Schultz (2005)- clinical scholar programs target a core group of nursing experts Karkos & Peters (2006) Leadership strategies of Magnet™ facilities: Assessment of the readiness for evidenced based practice Development of incorporation strategies such as journal clubs to facilitate analysis of research Development of mentor programs designed to promote nursing research skills State of the Science

  4. Purpose • Strategic goal of Center for Nursing Research • Development of Nursing Scholar Program to foster integration of research into practice excellence • Needs assessment necessary for curriculum development

Method • Prospective, descriptive design • Instrument - Modified survey tool (Pravikoff 2005) • 30 items • Demographics • 4-point Likert scale • Frequency and rank ordering • 2 free text responses • Protection of Human Subjects • Exempt research (OCF IRB) • Consent implied by submission of survey • Responses anonymous • Sampling Procedure • RNs recruited by flyer and email • Internet accessible for 6 weeks
