  3. Defense is Key • Bend your knees • Keep your feet shoulder width apart • Stay low to raise mobility • Keep arms up to prevent the person with the ball from shooting or passing • Don’t reach for the ball because that’s a foul

  4. The Rules The basic rules of Basketball are: • Don’t touch the other players or it will be a foul • Stay in bounds or else it’s the other teams ball • Continue bouncing the ball until you shoot or pass. • Don’t take more than two steps or it’s a travel.

  5. Interesting Facts • The first “hoops” were actually just peach baskets and the first backboards were made of wire. • The NBA instituted the three-pointer before the 1979-80 season, an idea it borrowed from the ABA • The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is located in Springfield, Mass
