XtAdd XtAdd is the technology within XtLearn to allow adding of resources from multiple sites to XtLearn collections. • A simple API to allow content suppliers to add an “Add to XtLearn” button to their sites • A browser button to allow any other web page to be added

Portable Collections • collections are generic containers of content, used for: • building into courses and lesson plans • downloading in various formats • delivering to learners via a simple URL • sharing with other practitioners • collections can contain resources from any XtLearn enabled site (NLN/Intute/NDRB/etc.) or any other URL • accessible via XtLearn.net, within Moodle, or within any XtLearn or XtAdd-enabled site
Adding to collections • if a site is XtAdd-enabled, simply click the “add to XtLearn” button, and choose a collection to add to • alternatively, once installed, browser buttons (IE/Firefox/Chrome) allow adding the current URL to a collection • convert RSS feeds to collections
Editing collections • All collections have a title and (optional) description for learners, a description for other practitioners, and visibility settings • collection contents can be edited using an intuitive interface, to easily • re-order (using drag-and-drop) • remove • rename resources.
Delivering collections • distribute the URL to learners. Options for presentation include: • styling • use a close button? • within frame or use pop-ups? • restrict IP addresses • download the collection. Choose by target platform, bypassing technical complexities: • Moodle, Blackboard etc. • CD/DVD/USB (with navigation and smart auto-run)
XtLearn for content suppliers • provides an additional, non-exclusive route to market • no up-front cost • minimal set-up • compete on a level playing field with other suppliers, but retain a distinctive brand • comprehensive usage reporting • flexible subscription model for monetising content
Keep control of content • XtLearn allows suppliers to keep control of their content and brand, while liberating underused content into new market streams • XtLearn provides non-exclusive services to practitioners in all sectors for the discovery, purchasing, and delivery of content • Content will usually still reside on the supplier’s servers, with the addition of a DRM solution. (Hosting can also be provided where required.)
