TYPES OF QUALIFICATIONS • National Certificate • Minimum of 120 Credits with 72 credits at or above the level at which the certificate is registered. • National First Diploma • A minimum of 240 credits of which a minimum of 72 shall be at level 5 or above on the NQF • National First Degree • A minimum of 360 credits of which a minimum of 72 shall be at level 6 or above on the NQF.

  15. Definitions Core That compulsory learning required in situations contextually relevant to the particular qualification

  16. Definitions Elective A selection of additional credits at the level of the NQF specified, from which a choice can be made to ensure that the purpose of the qualification is achieved
