  5. Fields • Field Permit – Will be sent out to each manager • Post Game Maintenance – See handout - Pitchers Mound and Batters Box - Garbage (each team to cleanup their dugouts/bleachers on their side and take trash to bin in parking lot) • Fields: • Improvements: Leyva, Dove Hill

Volunteer Application • Complete application before you leave.(Coaches, Team Moms, Umpires, Snack Shack, anyone who has repeated contact with players). • Make copy of Drivers license before you leave • Contact Toby Strite • Code of Conduct • Review ELL Policies • Chain of Command • Code of Conduct sign off

  7. SponsorsCarmen Park – League Contact • Registration fees cover 50% of the cost of operating the League. We work very hard to make our league affordable to all who want to play baseball by keeping registration fees low, and therefore, we rely on fundraisers and sponsors to cover the remaining 50% of the budget. • Our 2012 budget depends on each team obtaining one sponsor for $250. If we do not get at least one sponsor per team, we will need to eliminate planned field improvements or operate an additional fundraiser during the season. • Sponsor Forms in packet

ELL Jamboree/Hit-a-Thon Jamboree/Hit-a-Thon is Sunday March 18th - What is the Jamboree? - Changes from last year - Photo Day is separate - Selling Wrist Bands for unlimited games and jumper’s. - Several food vendors/sponsors for better quality food/choice - Hit A Thon - Personal and Team Prizes for best hit, most sponsorship, etc. - Participation by team throughout the day (scheduled times) - Forms distributed through Team Parent - Photo Day is Sunday, March 11th - Will send schedule out once teams are set

  9. ELL Baseball & Softball Tryouts Note: Times posted on ELL Website. Managers shall assist in setting up the field and getting ready for Tryouts. Draft will follow the following week TBA.Players must tryout for Major and above divisions or risk being sent down until available slot opens. • Baseball • Leyva Sat 1/21 – Times will be sent out. • Leyva Sun 1/23 – Times will be sent out • Leyva Sat 1/28 - 10am to 12pm • Softball • Dove Hill Sat. Feb. 11th - Times will be sent out In case of rain, please check website, and email before coming to the field!

ELL Umpire Responsibilities • Main goal is safety for all players • Attend as many rules clinics as possible see calendar for times and dates • The President & UIC will make final rulings on any and all protests • Make sure catchers are wearing proper safety equipment • Continually monitor the field for safety and playability • Pitchers warming up in foul territory must have a spotter and catcher with full equipment • Keep game moving-one minute or 8 pitches to warm up the pitcher between innings or in case of mid-inning replacement • No protesting of any judgment calls by the umpire • Managers are responsible for keeping their fans and players on their best behavior

  11. Paid Umpires • Are provided for Minor through Junior divisions of baseball. • First right to umpire your game: • D59 has first right to umpire games • ELL Umpires • Qualified parent from your team • Paid Umpires

  13. Snack Shack Coordinator • NEEDED FOR BASEBALL & SOFTBALL • ELL SS Coordinators • New food service/menu • Each team will be responsible for working snack shack 1 Week out season schedule. • Designate a team SS Rep

  14. ELL Player Agent Responsibilities • Player Agent coordinates tryouts, draft and all-star selection. • Managers must contact Player Agent on all roster changes • Handle all ELL player issues

Prepare for Safe PlayELL Safety Officer Patricia Tapia • Medical release forms required for all players • Two adults must be at every practice in case one coach has to leave with an injured player. • Inspect field prior to practice or play • Assign a parent or rotate among parents • Consider assigning a player to help • Bring bagged ice to every practice/game • Manager’s responsibility • First Aid kits in each field’s equipment box • Manager’s responsibility to alert safety officer if new first aid kit is needed

In Case of an Accident • Two types of reportS • Injury – First aid injures (ELL Only) • Accident report – More than First aid (Goes to LL) • Accident Reports are required for the following: • a. Any injury that results in the player, Coach, or Spectator having to leave the game or practice • b. Any injury to the Head • c. Any other injury that a Coach or Manager feels should be reported • Any injury that results in being seen by a doctor. • Tricia Tapia ELL Safety Officer can assist you on completing the forms.

  17. Play Safe • No horseplay • Bats handled only in batting cage (NO ON-DECK CIRCLES Majors and below) • Catcher plays with catcher’s mitt only and complete set of proper equipment • Double First Bases in PeeWee/Farm BB and Pioneer/Minors SB • Every player wears athletic supporter or cup • No jewelry, medical alert bracelets taped down • Helmets for hitters, runners and base coaches • Caged from Farm upwards • Players, coaches, manager only in dugout • One coach/manager always in dugout • No food in dugout, bottled water and sport drink OK

  18. Finish Safe • Many accidents due to post-game or post-practice horseplay • You are responsible for every child • Personally insure that child goes home with a parent or designated adult • Do not leave the field until every child under your care is spoken for

  19. 2012 LL & ELL Rules • You will receive rule books from ELL • You will be emailed an ELL Managers Handbook/Rules this week.   20. 2012 Post Season • Major, Jr, Sr TOC single elimination • One All-Star Team for all Divisions • 9 Yr Old Play under district rules • 10, 11, 12, Jr, Sr play under LL Tournament Rules • Participation in other programs during All-Stars is allowed. • D59 Dress Code allows Docker style shorts (no denim).

Team Checklist • Introduce Yourself and your coaching philosophy • Ask for at least 2 Coaches to help you • Ask for a Team Parent to help you with schedules, snack list, trophies, phone calls, team party, etc.  • Ask for a Team Parent to get a banner by the Opening Day:  • Ask for a Team Sponsor(s) or a parent to find one:  • Determine what the best practice time is for your team during weeknights and on Saturdays - Work with Division Rep • Inform them of the Jamboree/Hit-a-Thon day ceremony on 3/18 at Chaboya 11AM ~ 3PM. Be in Uniform, Parade, Ceremony, Lunch, Raffle, Games • Team Pictures will be taken on 3/11 • Line up kids by SIZE to hand out uniforms, do not hand out by numbers or you will not have enough uniforms of the right size. No modifications to Uniforms are allowed (no names on Jersey). • Managers - 1st Aid Certification / Uniform Distribution - Feb. TBA • Scorekeeping Clinic & Team Parenting – Feb. TBA
