What is the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)?

CHIP program provides medical coverage for individuals under age 19 whose parents earn too much income to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to pay for private coverage. It is regulated by the United States Department of Health and Human Services that gives needed funds to states for health care coverage to families with children. The program covers uninsured kids in families with livelihoods that are however too high to even consider qualifying for Medicaid.
