  2. Measuring Perimeter • When you find the distance around the classroom or around the outside of the playground, you are finding the perimeter. • The units for measuring perimeter are called Linear units!

  4. Measuring Area • The floor of a classroom might be covered in tile or carpet. • That tile or carpet illustrates the area of the floor. • Area is not length; it is an amount of surface. • The units for measuring area are called Square units!

  5. Measuring Surface Area • The surface area of a three-dimensional figure is the total area of its outside covering or surfaces. • When finding the amount of paper needed to wrap a present, you are measuring the surface area of a box.

  7. Measuring Volume • If you were to fill up the classroom with cubes and then count them, you would be finding the volume of the room. • The units we use to measure volume are Cubic units
