New interface makes things easier to find • Results oriented (Live Preview: dynamic feature that allows you to preview how formatting options will look before you actually apply the formatting) • WYGIWYS (What You Get Is What You See) • The focus is now on letting users specify the results they want • Galleries of possible end-states (mouse over) • Features and commands organized by task • Not “buried” deep in Menus • Labeled with both text and graphics • Enhanced ToolTips (illustrations and Help text) • Easier to share documents • Free Save As PDF plug-in available from Microsoft The Benefits

Office 2007 • Can open earlier version files • Will open in “Compatibility Mode” • New Office 2007 features unavailable • No format conversions necessary, unless desired • Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats • Allows you to be able to open, edit, and save files using the file formats new to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 Compatibility Considerations

Office 2008 for Macintosh was released in January 2008 • Office 2008 for the Macintosh can open/edit Office 2007 formatted files (and all other Office formats as well) without problems. • Office for Macintosh versions earlier than 2008 will not be able open files created in Office 2007 for Windows without the installation of the compatibility pack. • Additional Macintosh Information Compatibility and the Mac!
