  2. PTO Meeting Norms • November 12, 2013 Importance of norms help members how we will interact, communicate, and conduct ourselves. Norms will be redefined by group when issues are present, posted at every meeting and honored by all that attend. Certainly, operating from a set of norms won’t avoid conflict, but conflict that does arise is more likely to be discussed and resolved than suppressed. Be concise or specific – Use Layman’s Terms “Your suggesting....” Take a moment to think – after someone has spoken, pause to make sure they know you recognized what was said Give solutions with your suggestions “Here is an idea...” Pay attention to BOTH what is being said and how it is being said. Have good intentions in what you say, even when disagreeing Find balance between what we want to do and how we are going to do it.

  3. Purpose of Panel • Give insight from teacher perspective on what is going on at the school currently. • An opportunity to give parents/guardians to connect outside the classroom. • Topics are for everyone's participation- not just for a certain grade. • Create community, continue to support parent education through PTO meetings • Great way to learn and participate in your child’s education
