  1. ReturnLocation.com An Overview for Users: Equipment Providers and Motor Carriers

  2. ReturnLocation.com Overview ReturnLocation.com was developed for equipment providers to post their equipment return requirements and to simplify notification to motor carriers as allowed for under E1 of the UIIA. The notification capability gives motor carriers a single place to go in order to subscribe to email distribution groups to get advance email notifications of changes to equipment provider return requirements.

  3. How the Main Page Works • Link to Provider Postings of Return Requirements (circled in Brown in the previous slide) • The page has a link to each participating provider’s return requirements • Equipment providers individually maintain their return requirements posting • Subscribe to Provider Distribution Groups for Advance Notices of Return Requirement Changes • Motor carriers should use the map (circled in Yellow)to determine which region it needs notifications in • Motor carriers Subscribe or Unsubscribe with individual email addresses to any of the regions email group (circled in Blue)

  4. How Each Posting Works • Equipment providers are encouraged to use a standardized reporting format to make it easier for parties referencing the posts to understand them. (See the sample format in the next slide.) • Equipment providers are individually responsible for the content of their posting and ReturnLocation.com has no involvement with the content. • Participating providers have 2 ways to post: • They may have a company posting maintained as part of their companies web page which is linked to from ReturnLocation.com • They may maintain a file directly on the ReturnLocation.com page.

  6. How the Advance Notifications Work • The site maintains email distribution groups for providers to send to motor carriers advance notification of changes to their return requirements. • Motor carriers subscribe to regional distribution groups from the site. One or several people from each motor carrier may subscribe depending on their needs. • The regional distribution groups are maintained by ReturnLocation.com’s email service. All participating providers use the same email distribution groups. Individual distribution groups are not maintained for each equipment provider. • When an authorized sender emails return instructions, ReturnLocation.com’s email service provider sends individual messages to each anyone subscribed to the regional distribution group the sender is sending the message to. • As per E1 of UIIA, Providers must notify motor carrier of changes in their return requirements by 4pm the business day prior to the change being in effect.
