4. Types of SAE • Exploratory-helps students learn about agr. And become aware of possible agr. Careers through short times spent observing, shadowing or helping. They may attend a career day, interview a veterinarian or assist a horse owner. • Entrepreneurship (Ownership)- =Planning, implementing, operating and assuming financial risks in an agr. Business or farming activity such as raising hogs or operating a farm supply store.

5. Placement- placing students in jobs outside of regular classroom hours that may be paid or unpaid work such as working at a farm supply store or on a poultry farm. • Analytical- identify an agricultureal problem that cannot be solved by experiments and design a plan to investiage and analyze the problem such as a marketing display.

6. Experimental- planning and conducting an agr. Experiment using the scientific process or scientific method such as comparing different levels of proteins on animal growth.

7. Improvement- a series of activities that improves the value or appearance of the place or employment, schools, home, or community: The efficiency of a business or an enterprise: or the living conditions of the family. Examples include building a fence, computerizing records, remodeling a building or repairing equipment

8. Other SAE information • Student has the ultimate responsible for a successful SAE • SAE program must be well planned to be successful • The student, teacher, parent and employer should help plan the SAE and evaluate it. • SAE should be a continous effect to expand or add other enterprises

9. SAE Other • You need a record book or system • Success involves a plan, records, and visits by the teacher. • Weekly entries should be done • You can have as many SAE’s that you want

10. Entries in Record Books • Enterprise- type of enterprise, amount bought or sold, expenses, income, efficiency factors etc • Experimental-review of literature, hypothesis, data log, findings, recommendations etc.

11. Analytical- title of activity, indentification of problems, background information, steps to solve problem, project log of what was done, results, and recommendations. • Placement- training agreement signed by students, teacher, employer and parent or guardian stating which each will do, record of work, hours, and compensation.

12. Exploratory- date, activity, observation and comments, hours • Improvement- date started, date completed, improvement activity and steps or tasks involved in the project, hours, costs • Supplementary- date, supplementary activities and comments, hours.
