  3. Education in Medical Assisting The educational requirements for a medical assistants are a high school diploma, or the equivalent. Recommended high school courses include: Mathematics Health /Biology Typing/ Bookkeeping/ Computers And Offices skills

  4. Requirements in Medical Assisting Volunteer experiences in the health care field is helpful. Participating in a per health enrichment program is an excellent way to learn what its like to work in the field. Pre Health Enrichment Programs: Paid/unpaid internships Summer/ full years Clinical/non-clinical work study On the job training

Median annual earnings of medical assistants were $20,610 The middle 50% earned between $20,650 and $28,930 a year. The lowest 10% earned less than $18,010 and highest 10% earned more than $34,650 a year.

Job Outlook Medical assistants is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations as the health services industry expands due to technological advances in medicine, and a growing and aging population. Growth will be driven by the increase in the number of group practices, clinics, and other health care facilities that need a high proportion of support personnel, particularly the flexible medical assistant who can handle both administrative and clinical duties.
