  2. Root of the Conflict • More political nationalistic than religious • In the 7th century Islam spread and Jews became subject to Muslim rulers • The Quran denotes Jews

  3. Form of Conflict • War • Massacres of Jews in the 20th century • Muslims attacked synagogues because Jews damaged their Muslim brethren in Palestinian territories • 2008-09: Gaza war, tensions increased • Shootings

  4. Spatial Extent of Conflict • France/Europe • Palestinian territories • Egypt • Occasionally • US

  5. A History of Conflict • The religious texts of Qur'an and the Torah contradict each other in certain stories • The Qur’an at one point says to accept Jews but then also says to kill them if the don’t convert to Islam. • They lived in relative peace and indifference toward one another until after World War 2 when the Jews were given Israel and the Palestinians were displaced off their land and their holy land.

  6. Countless Losses • Thousands of Palestinians have been moved from their homes or separated from their farms because of the Jews placing their boundaries through property lines. • Israel is very dominant and tends to look like the bad guy • Bulldozing houses and stuff

  7. Regional Conflict • This is a regional conflict due to the fact that the only people actually affected are those who live and fight over the land on the Gaza Strip. • Prejudices DO exist globally between the two however. Not all Jews hate Muslims and vice versa.
